Yesterday DaVita HealthCare Partners and Schmidt Public Affairs took home the Public Service award from the PR News 2014 Nonprofit PR Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements in nonprofit public relations.
The award – which judges writing, production, distribution and metrics – is for a kidney disease awareness PSA starring NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning and comedian George Lopez, both of whom are kidney transplant recipients and passionate advocates for kidney care.
We’re very honored and excited to receive this recognition, especially given the high caliber of the other entries in our category, which included PSAs from the CDC, Ogilvy, and National Association of Broadcasters.
Bill Myers, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for DaVita, accepted the award on behalf of the organization and thanked both Mourning and Lopez for their continued commitment to kidney care:
